Savings And Investments

What can you do to ensure that your savings and investments for retirement won’t be eaten up by inflation?
liquidox is correct, there is no way of determining the future of inflation. What you can count on is that it will always be there is usually in normal markets fluctuates between 3-4%.
In order to out place inflation, you need to make sure that your return is outpacing any possible inflation. You do this by making sure you are well diversified, maximize your tax deductions, and minimize your commissions on those monies that are invested.
Quick tips. Protect, save, grow and then enjoy.
1. (Protect) Make sure that you work on your protect elements before doing anything. These elements are life/health insurance, disability insurance, auto insurance, hazard insurance and liability insurance. I would consider these to be your foundation. If you had 3 million dollars sitting in a bank account, but weren’t properly covered with health insurance. You could be potentially placing all that money at risk.
2. (Save) Make sure you pay yourself first. Try to save monies each and every week, once you get your paycheck. Otherwise, if you wait until the end of the month, there won’t be anything left. In additon, any sane person will make sure they have approx. 6 months of living expenses stocked away somewhere, that isn’t at risk. What I mean at risk? If you have 6 months of your living expenses placed in a stock, what happens if that stock plummets? Be sure to minimize your “bad debt”. Bad debt is any debt that doesn’t provide you with a tax benefit, i.e auto loans, credit cards, etc.
3. (Grow) Make sure that you are utilizing any retirement plan your employer offers, unless there is NO MATCH. If this is the case, then your better off placing monies into other accounts, that allow you more investment choices. Like a Roth IRA for starters. The way this program works is that the monies you place within the account are after tax dollars. So 2,000 deposit is like putting away 2,600. The beauty is that you don’t pay any taxes on this IRA, once you start to make withdrawals. And being that it’s aftertax monies, there is no penalty for withdrawal of the previous years “principal (the deposit you made). Then maximize your tax deductions, and make sure you stay on top of it. Also, if you are young enough and in good health, a whole life insurance policy is something you might want to look into. This policy allows you to obtain a guaranteed cash value, while providing you a death benefit. Age and health play a large part in this, and could benefit as much as 6% per year. Also, at retirement the withdrawals that are made are NOT TAXABLE.
4. (Enjoy) Once your in retirement, you can collect from the ROTH and Whole life policy, and not pay any tax on it. Use these to supplement, while taking your normal 401k, IRA and other TAXABLE monies.
Hope this answers your question.

The Dollar Meltdown: Surviving the Impending Currency Crisis with Gold, Oil, and Other Unconventional Investments $4.99 On the heels of the most recent economic crisis, America is headed toward another: high inflation and dollar devaluation. The signs are clear: Federal debt is compounding while growth has stalled, and America’s foreign creditors are questioning the dollar’s reserve currency status. Meanwhile, the “hidden” federal debt, much larger than the official debt, makes things even worse. But the good news, according to Charles Goyette, is that those who are prepared can protect themselves – and even profit – in this new era. Drawing on historical examples and a clear, down-to-earth analysis, he explains the importance of gold, silver, and other alternative investments when inflation takes off. He also gives readers the investing tools to protect their savings and capitalize on the opportunities ahead. Savvy readers don’t have to be left holding the bag after decades of government irresponsibility. |

Joyces Investments $26.6 The old lawyer caressed his smoothly shaven chin and gazed out at Joyce Lavillotte from under his shaggy eyebrows, as from the portholes of a castle, impressing her as being quite as inscrutable of aspect and almost as belligerent. She, flushed and brighteyed, leaned forward with an appealing air, opposing the resistless vigor of youth to the impassiveness of age. It is not the crazy scheme you think it, Mr. Barrington, she said in that liquid voice which was an inheritance from her creole ancestry, and I do not mean to risk my last dollar. You know I have means that cannot be touched. Why should you be so sure I cannot manage the Worksespecially when Mr. Dalton is so capable and The lawyer uttered something between a grunt and a laugh. It Investments and Firm Performance $176.84 The recent trends in the modern competitive arena (globalization, Information Technology centred economies and budget constraints forced by the financial crisis) make the evaluation of IT investments concrete effects a more urgent issue than ever. As organizations continue to invest significant amounts of capital into IT, research studies report contradictory findings on the relationship between IT investments and organizational productivity and performance. It is therefore not surprising to see that the IT productivity paradox is receiving increasing attention from researchers and practitioners in the new informationbased economy. This work explains why IT does matter and why it is an essential ingredient in longterm business success and not merely a commodity that adds little to the firms ability to thrive. Through different steps and different paths that link IT decisions, IT changes, capabilities and process performance we demonstrate that IT drives growth and, finally, it can have a measurable impact on financial performance. Credit, Investments and the Macroeconomy $170.47 This book relates the literatures of finance, industrial economics and investment to the theoretical framework of the credit view. First, banks decisions concerning their assets are seen as at least as relevant as their decisions concerning their liabilities. Second, securities and bank credit are highly imperfect substitutes. The interactions between real and financial sectors are analyzed from the point of view of the industrial firm, in a model where the investment and financial decisions of the firm are taken simultaneously.
